Dr. Abraham Bankole is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacements. Born in Nigeria, and raised in Houston Texas, he earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry, cum laude, from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School and his adult reconstruction fellowship in hip and knee surgery at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School.
Dr. Bankole performs direct anterior hip replacements and robotic-assisted total and partial knee replacements using muscle-sparing techniques. He also evaluates and treats joint replacements that are painful or not working as they should. His particular interest is revision surgery, including complex revisions, fractures around existing implants, and infected joint replacements. He developed this experience throughout his training in Austin and Houston, at high-volume centers where complex and challenging cases are regularly referred.
Dr. Bankole takes his time with each patient, explaining both surgical and nonsurgical options and what to expect from surgery through recovery. His goal is simple: get people back to walking, working, and doing what they enjoy without pain.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society, and the Texas Orthopaedic Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Bankole is a competitive bodybuilder and passionate sports fan who enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with his wife and family.
